Motorists in Dubai Silicon Oasis will soon see a major change in how they pay for on-street parking, as Parkonic prepares to introduce a fully ticketless and cashless system across the community.
The new setup, managed by Parkonic, will link directly to drivers’ Salik accounts, allowing automatic billing without the need for physical machines or paper tickets.
Tiered Pricing to Manage Demand
Under the updated regulations, parking charges will follow a time-based pricing structure aimed at easing congestion during peak hours.
-
Dh4 per hour from 8:00am to 4:00pm
-
Dh6 per hour from 4:00pm to 8:00pm
-
Dh4 per hour from 8:00pm to midnight
The charges will apply from Monday to Saturday, while parking will remain free on Sundays and public holidays.
The introduction of higher evening rates reflects efforts to better manage parking demand during busy periods, particularly in residential and commercial pockets of Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Fully Digital, No Machines on Site
Unlike traditional paid parking zones, the new system will not feature parking meters, cash payment kiosks, or QR code options. Instead, payments will be processed digitally using a vehicle’s licence plate number.
Drivers will have two payment options:
-
SMS Parking: Motorists can send a text message to the designated number displayed on signage to begin a parking session.
-
Automatic Salik Deduction: If no SMS session is activated, the system will automatically deduct the applicable parking fee from the vehicle’s Salik account upon exit.
According to the operator’s policy, the Salik-linked payment method will serve as the default unless a successful SMS session is initiated.
Enforcement and Compliance
All vehicles, including those belonging to People of Determination, will be subject to the parking charges.
Motorists who do not have a Salik account or who maintain insufficient balance are encouraged to use the SMS payment option to avoid penalties. Non-compliance could result in enforcement measures such as fines or potential blacklisting under Dubai’s traffic regulations.
Salik-related payments will remain subject to the toll operator’s existing terms and conditions.
Activation Date Awaited
An official launch date for the Dubai Silicon Oasis parking activation has yet to be confirmed. Residents and commuters are advised to monitor Parkonic’s official channels for updates on when the new ticketless system will go live.
