Per Franzén appointed new CEO of EQT AB

As of May 27, 2025

The Board of Directors of EQT AB (“EQT”) has announced the appointment of Per Franzén as the new CEO and Managing Partner, effective from the annual shareholders’ meeting on May 27, 2025.

Franzén will succeed Christian Sinding, who has led the firm through extraordinary transformation and growth. During the transition period leading to May, Sinding will remain CEO.

Franzén is a highly respected leader within EQT who has spent nearly two decades at the firm. Currently serving as Deputy Managing Partner and Head of Private Capital in Europe and North America, Franzén has played a key role in EQT’s success.

He led the record-breaking EUR 22 billion raise of EQT X, the largest private equity fund closed globally in 2024. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping EQT into a global investment powerhouse. Under his guidance, EQT Private Capital Europe & North America now manages EUR 113 billion in assets, making it its most extensive business line.

Franzén will continue to build on EQT’s remarkable achievements in his new role as CEO. The firm, which reported record investments, increased exit activity, and substantial portfolio valuation growth in 2024, is poised for continued success. Franzén will also oversee the firm’s EUR 100 billion fundraising cycle, focus on launching new investment strategies, and further strengthen EQT’s brand presence globally.

Reflecting on his appointment, Franzén expressed enthusiasm about leading the firm into its next chapter. “It is an honour to be appointed CEO of EQT. I am passionate about the firm, having spent most of my career here. I am deeply committed to building on the fantastic global platform we have established under Christian’s leadership. I look forward to working with the team and the Board to continue delivering exceptional value to our clients and shareholders,” Franzén commented.

Christian Sinding, who has served as CEO since 2019 and has been with EQT since 1998, will transition to the role of Institutional Partner after the shareholders’ meeting in May. As an Institutional Partner, Sinding will chair the newly formed EQT Council, which will work to strengthen partnerships and provide the firm with insights to ensure long-term success. He will continue to chair the Global Investment Forum and remain involved in several EQT fund Investment Committees.

Sinding, who was instrumental in EQT’s growth from a market capitalisation of EUR 7 billion at its 2019 IPO to approximately EUR 40 billion today, expressed pride in the firm’s journey. “Going from employee number eleven to leading a firm with nearly 2,000 colleagues in over 20 markets is an unforgettable journey,” he said. “I am proud to hand over the leadership to Per, and I look forward to continuing to support EQT in my new role.”

Conni Jonsson, Chairperson of the Board of EQT, praised Sinding’s leadership and vision, recognising his pivotal role in transforming EQT into a leading global investment firm. Jonsson also expressed confidence in Franzén’s ability to lead the firm through its next growth phase. “Per is a role model for EQT’s values and performance-driven culture,” he said. “With Per as CEO, I am confident EQT will continue delivering outstanding results for clients and shareholders.”
