New data released by the dubizzle Inspection team has revealed that a significant number of vehicles inspected across the UAE required some form of mechanical attention, highlighting how several motorists may be unknowingly driving with issues that could worsen during the country’s extreme summer temperatures.
Since January 2026, dubizzle cars has completed more than 20,000 vehicle inspections across the UAE, providing one of the clearest pictures yet of the most common mechanical problems affecting cars on the country’s roads.
The findings show that while many of the reported issues begin as minor faults, they can quickly develop into expensive repairs or even safety risks if left unresolved, particularly during the summer when high temperatures place additional strain on engines, batteries and other critical vehicle components.
Commenting on the findings, Sherif Magdy, Sales Director at dubizzle Cars, said: “Every inspection gives us valuable insight into the real condition of vehicles on UAE roads, and after analysing more than 20,000 inspections, clear patterns have emerged. As we enter the peak of the UAE summer, even relatively minor issues can quickly escalate under extreme temperatures. The encouraging finding is that many of the problems we identify are entirely preventable if addressed early. A simple inspection can help motorists avoid unexpected breakdowns, reduce repair costs and improve road safety. More importantly, today’s drivers are becoming increasingly proactive about maintaining their vehicles, not just to get from A to B, but to protect their investment and ensure long-term reliability.”
Key Findings From More Than 20,000 Vehicle Inspections
Analysis of the inspection data identified several recurring issues affecting motorists across the UAE. The most common finding involved engine idling vibrations, with 58% of inspected vehicles showing symptoms commonly associated with worn engine mounts. While often dismissed as a minor inconvenience, prolonged vibration can place additional strain on surrounding engine components and reduce driving comfort.
Another 38% of vehicles displayed idler pulley noise, indicating worn components that may fail prematurely when exposed to prolonged summer operating temperatures.
Lubrication-related issues were also considerable. 27% showed signs of engine oil sweating, while 15% were found to have active engine oil leaks.
Although these issues may initially appear minor, untreated oil leaks can reduce engine efficiency and significantly increase the risk of mechanical failure under extreme heat.
Similarly, 27% of inspected vehicles exhibited noisy engine belts, another early warning sign that essential engine components may require maintenance or replacement.
Battery condition also emerged as a significant concern. While most inspected vehicles recorded battery health between 40% and 60%, approximately 14% had battery life below 30%, substantially increasing the likelihood of battery failure during the summer months.
Less Frequent, But More Serious Issues
The inspection programme also identified a number of less common, but potentially more serious, mechanical faults. Approximately 16% of inspected vehicles showed evidence of minor or major transmission oil leaks, while 7% experienced engine misfires, an issue that can quickly escalate into reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption and costly mechanical repairs if left unresolved.
Six Checks Every Driver Should Make Before Summer
Based on the inspection findings, dubizzle Inspection recommends motorists carry out six essential checks before the hottest weeks of the year:
- Check battery health and replace ageing batteries before failure.
- Inspect tyre pressure, tread depth and overall tyre condition.
- Ensure coolant levels and the cooling system are functioning correctly.
- Service the air-conditioning system to maintain efficient cooling.
- Check engine oil, transmission fluid, and brake fluid regularly.
- Never ignore dashboard warning lights, unusual noises or changes in vehicle performance.
As one of the UAE’s leading automotive marketplaces, dubizzle continues to support motorists beyond buying and selling vehicles by providing professional inspection services that help consumers make informed decisions and maintain their vehicles with confidence.
