Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defence has issued a nationwide weather alert, urging residents to exercise caution as unstable weather conditions intensify across the Kingdom.
Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall are forecast to continue through Thursday, with meteorologists warning of heightened risks in several regions. The Mecca region, in particular, is expected to see moderate to heavy downpours that could trigger flash floods, hailstorms, and strong dust-laden winds.
Similar conditions are projected for Jazan, Asir, and Al Baha, while Medina, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Najran, and the Eastern Province are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall.
Civil Defence officials highlighted that heavy precipitation, combined with shifting weather patterns, poses a serious threat in low-lying areas and valleys susceptible to flooding. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid crossing floodwaters, and adhere strictly to safety instructions shared through official channels.
The warnings come amid a broader trend of increasingly unpredictable weather affecting the Kingdom and the wider region. Civil Defence confirmed that emergency teams are coordinating closely with local authorities to respond swiftly to incidents and ensure community safety.
