Saudi Company For Ai Stikes New Partnership With Us Company – Datarobot
The Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) has partnered with DataRobot. This partnership is intended to grow the AI ecosystem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). SCAI is a company founded to position KSA as a global AI leader. It seeks to do this by offering innovative solutions and making strategic partnerships to enable a robust AI ecosystem in KSI. DataRobot, on the other hand, is a US-based tech provider specializing in AI cloud and other AI-powered solutions.
Potential Impact of the Partnership
Following this partnership, DataRobot is set to establish its regional headquarters in KSA. The company would also create an AI development hub and an R&D center. DataRobot would help develop innovative AI solutions for KSA and the MENA region with these facilities. Per the Saudi Press Agency, the solutions developed through the partnership would focus on areas such as green tech. Other critical areas of focus include oil and ga,s and healthcare.
In addition, the partnership is directed at building the country’s AI capacity. They would achieve this through a DataRobot University and other innovative programs. Ultimately, KSA hopes to upskill millions of local people. Furthermore, it would equip these people with AI-leaning capabilities and ensure job creation.
Saudi Arabia’s Increasing Focus on AI
It is worth mentioning that this collaboration follows a streak of recent partnerships in KSA. These partnerships align with KSA’s national AI plan to accelerate digital transformation. For instance, Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) signed an MoU with Huawei in 2020. This partnership enables collaboration on the Kingdom’s National AI Capacity Development Program. Per the agreement, Huawei would train Saudi AI engineers and students. In addition, Huawei would create an AI Capability Platform to localize technology solutions.
In a similar fashion, the SDAIA signed an MoU with the International Telecommunication Union. The partnership is to optimize the benefits of AI technologies for sustainable development. In addition, the agency has partnered with Alibaba Cloud. Both entities are collaborating to develop digital and AI services in areas like safety and security, mobility, energy, etc.
Clearly, these strategic partnerships constitute significant steps in attaining KSA’s national AI plans. These plans are codified in the country’s National Strategy for Data and Artificial Intelligence. Notably, this national strategy focuses on six broad goals. These goals include turning KSA into a global leader in data and AI by 2030 and upskilling the Saudi workforce to enable them to utilize AI. Similarly, the country plans to build core research and innovation institutions in data and AI. Ultimately, KSA intends to drive AI adoption by creating an ecosystem for AI and data start-ups to thrive.
Conclusion
Amongst other things, the country’s increased focus on AI is part of its efforts to diversify its economy. KSA’s increasing investment in AI is also in recognition of the prominent economic role AI is poised to play in the future. For instance, according to PwC, AI is expected to contribute up to 12.4% of KSA’s GDP by 2030. No doubt, the recent partnership with DataRobot brings KSA another step closer to becoming a global leading AI hub.
