Saudi German Hospital helps Yazan restore life after a two-month coma

Saudi German Hospital Makkah helped Yazan regain his normal life after he suffered a severe head trauma, which plunged him into a coma for two and a half months.

Yazan was transferred from a government hospital – where doctors performed a tracheostomy to aid Yazan in breathing – to Saudi German Hospital Makkah due to the latter’s access to the latest treatment methods and technologies. Saudi German Hospital Makkah has had both Arab and foreign consultants across a wide range of specialities and partnership with the renowned Mayo Clinic.

Clinging to hope, all medical departments, including physiotherapy and rehabilitation department, collectively crafted a treatment plan, as they were determined to help Yazan stand again on his feet.

Medical professionals placed Yazan on a ventilator, treated severe bruising in his head and bleeding in the brain matter, eradicated Yazan’s bacterial infection and enabled him to regain consciousness and ability to walk. The medical team also closed the tracheostomy.

Yazan accordingly shifted from a vegetative state, where he depended on others for every aspect of his life, to an individual who now embraces life with independence.
