Serco to modernise the US Navy’s guided missile frigates and ship systems

In deal worth $96 million
The US Navy has renewed a contract with Serco, a leading international provider of critical services to governments, to offer technical services for modernising the US Navy’s guided missile frigates and related ship systems.
The contract, valued at an estimated $96 million, comprises a one-year base period with four additional one-year option periods, reflecting the US Navy’s commitment to enhancing its naval capabilities.
Under the agreement, Serco will provide comprehensive support for the missile frigates and ships, encompassing the planning, design, construction, and delivery phases. Additionally, the company will provide systems integration and testing services, ensuring that the vessels meet the US Navy’s advanced operational requirements.
Anthony Kirby, Serco Group Chief Executive, stated: “We are delighted to have retained this [US Navy] contract, demonstrating our extensive global capabilities in the maritime sector and the value we offer to navies.

The contract underscores Serco’s strategic role in supporting the US Navy’s modernisation efforts, enhancing naval defence capabilities, and advancing maritime security initiatives.
The company has a history of collaborating with navies worldwide, offering a range of services that include inshore naval vessel support and training for the Royal Australian Navy, designing, building, operating, and maintaining vessels for the UK Royal Navy, supporting the Nato Submarine Rescue System in naval training exercises, performing essential facility management and maintenance services at key Belgian military bases, and carrying out vital maintenance services for the Belgian and Dutch mine countermeasure fleets.
