Sharjah hosts 44th Police Shooting Championship

SHARJAH The 44th Police Shooting Championship has officially begun in Sharjah, bringing together law enforcement marksmen from across the UAE and abroad. Organised by the Police Sports Association under the Ministry of Interior, the competition will run until January 29.

The championship is being hosted by Sharjah Police at the shooting ranges of the Sharjah Police Academy in the Al Khudairah area.

On the opening day, 100 male and female competitors from nine teams representing the Ministry of Interior and police commands across the UAE took part, alongside an international team from the police force of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The launch ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Dr Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director-General of the Sharjah Police Academy, and Brigadier General Dr Omar Mohammed Al Khayal, Director of the Police Sports Association and Chairman of the Sports Committee at the Ministry of Interior, along with several senior officers.

The championship is designed to strengthen police operational skills, enhance field readiness, and promote positive competition and professional knowledge exchange among participants.

Events include tactical police movement skills competitions for men, elite tactical movement shooting for men, women and officers, speed challenge contests, police operations rifle shooting for both men and women, pistol accuracy challenges, and a dedicated snipers’ competition for men.
