Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has announced the completion of the first phase of development at the Al Hadiba gas and condensate field, more than doubling its current gas production and reinforcing Sharjah’s long-term energy security.

Located northeast of the Sajaa gas field, Al Hadiba was discovered in May 2024. SNOC accelerated the project’s development, achieving initial gas production in less than a year following an extensive appraisal and infrastructure programme.

The first phase involved drilling appraisal wells, evaluating reservoir data, constructing gas-gathering facilities, installing pipelines and completing essential commissioning activities to support commercial production.

With the initial development phase completed, SNOC is preparing to expand operations further. The corporation aims to increase production during 2027, with the field expected to achieve a stable production rate by 2028.

The expansion is anticipated to strengthen Sharjah’s domestic energy supply and support the emirate’s growing industrial and economic requirements.

Khamis Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of SNOC, described Al Hadiba as one of Sharjah’s most important natural gas developments in recent years, highlighting its contribution to the corporation’s long-term growth plans.

“Completing the first phase at record speed and reaching production demonstrate the corporation’s ability to move efficiently from discovery to execution to meet the emirate’s growing energy needs,” Al Mazrouei said.

He added that the upcoming development phase would further strengthen the field’s contribution to energy security and create lasting economic value for Sharjah.

The project was completed despite operational and supply chain challenges, including disruptions to regional shipping routes and restrictions affecting the availability of essential materials.

SNOC said its ability to overcome these obstacles demonstrated its technical expertise and capacity to execute major energy infrastructure projects within accelerated schedules.

Masoud Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Exploration and Production at SNOC, said the appraisal programme had delivered encouraging results regarding reservoir quality, pressure characteristics and production performance.

According to Al Hammadi, these findings have reinforced confidence in Al Hadiba’s long-term commercial potential and its ability to contribute to Sharjah’s future energy requirements.

The continued development of Al Hadiba represents a significant step in SNOC’s efforts to expand local natural gas production, improve supply reliability and support the emirate’s long-term energy strategy.
