SQUID GAME AND PARASITE SOUNDTRACK COMPOSER, JUNG JAEIL, TO PERFORM

Jung Jaeil, the mastermind behind the music for Parasite, the first non-English language film to win the Oscar for Best Picture, and Netflix’s 2021 thriller series, Squid Game, will perform his body of award-winning compositions at the ‘Movies in Concert’ series, which takes place at Etihad Arena from January 16-18, 2025.

Jaeil, a Korean multi-instrumentalist, has received accolades from the 2020 Daejong Awards, 2022 BaekSang Arts Awards and 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards for his work in television and cinema.

In January 2025, Jaeil will take audience members on a journey showcasing his captivating body of original work which will be performed by the 21st Century Orchestra.

Jaeil was approached by Squid Game director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, to create the soundtrack which accompanies the hair-raising scenes in the hugely popular series. Viewers are eagerly awaiting the show’s second season, which airs in December, and soon after will be able to enjoy the Squid Game score live in Abu Dhabi.

Music and cinema fans are already anticipating the music from iconic 21st Century films which were announced in September. Scores from Frozen and The Lion King will be conducted by Austrian Gottfried Rabl, who is a fitting complement to the talents of Jaeil.

Conductor, Rabl, has lent his expertise to the captivating musical scores of several fan favourites created by huge global brands such as Netflix, Marvel, Disney+ and Amazon, and will be featured in the series along with Ludwig Wicki, founder and conductor of the 21st Century Orchestra.

Having founded the 21st Century Orchestra in 1999, Wicki has led masterful performances, capturing acclaim from global audiences and the wider musical world. The orchestra’s incredible blend of visual and musical storytelling has been performed in several prestigious venues, including collaborations with composers such as Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino and many more.

Cinema and music fans alike will be spoilt for choice with back-to-back performances from January 16 – 18, 2025.

The ‘Movies in Concert’ series, brought to you by Theory Eleven Entertainment and Miral – Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences – is a must-see experience on the Abu Dhabi event calendar. Tickets are available now at: www.etihadarena.com
