Needy students get school bags for 2023-2024 academic year
Dubai government’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has distributed school bags filled with essential academic supplies to students from low-income families in Dubai emirate as part of the Authority’s 2023 Back-to-School campaign.
Dubai RTA conducted its 2023 school bags distribution campaign in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, the Transport Security Department of Dubai Police, and Keolis-MHI.
More than 280,000 students are set to return to primary and secondary schools across Dubai emirate from August 28, 2023, onwards, for the start of the 2023-2024 academic year.
The school bags handed to needy students as part of the Dubai RTA community initiative included pens, pencils, rulers, writing and drawing books.
Private schools account for 90% of school education in Dubai, with the remaining 10% being public schools operated by the UAE Ministry of Education.
280,000+ students
Over 280,000 students representing 182 nationalities study in 194 private schools across Dubai emirate, with 17 different curricula on offer.
The Transport Security Department of Dubai Police which partnered with the Dubai RTA school bags’ distribution programme, is a specialised and well-trained security force tasked with securing all public transport facilities and commuters in Dubai emirate.
Since September 8, 2021, Keolis-MHI, a subsidiary of Keolis, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (MHI) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), has been the sole operator of the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram networks.
The consortium has a nine-year contract and a possible six-year extension to operate and maintain the emirate’s driverless metro and tram networks.
Set up in November 2005, Dubai RTA plans, develops, and operates all mass transit systems in Dubai emirate, including buses, taxis, metro, tram, and marine modes, as well as public parking facilities.
The Agency also enacts and implements legislation and strategic plans while developing and maintaining public roads, road traffic, rail, and marine projects across Dubai emirate.
