Supporting Blind Children “In The Way Of Allah” Takes Centre Stage on Qalby Etmaan

The eighth episode of Qalby Etmaan” ninth season focuses on supporting blind children under the zakat category “In The Way of Allah”, highlighting how the concept extends beyond its traditional interpretation to include investment in education.

Ghaith continues his humanitarian journey in the ninth season of Qalby Etmaan, this time through a different lens. The programme’s eighth zakat-focused episode focuses on the “In The Way Of Allah” category and its broader application in supporting education, highlighting an initiative at a specialised school for blind children, reflecting an expanded understanding of the category that extends beyond its traditional interpretation into meaningful developmental impact.

The episode features the Abdullah bin Umm Maktoum School in Africa, which educates children who have lost their sight due to illness and challenging living conditions.

The school provides students with specialised learning tools such as the “Basira Mushaf”, a device integrating technology with Braille to assist Qur’an reading, along with white canes to enhance students’ independence and mobility.

One of the most moving moments centres on Khaled, a young boy who lost his sight to trachoma. Determined to become a “muezzin” the person who calls Muslims to prayer, he continues to pursue his education and memorise the Qur’an with remarkable resolve.

The episode reinforces education as a powerful pathway to empowerment, benefiting individuals, families and wider communities. It offers a contemporary, development-focused understanding of “In the Way of Allah”.

Season nine supports 88 beneficiaries across several countries, addressing health, livelihood and educational needs through both immediate assistance and sustainable, long-term solutions.

The ninth season airs on Abu Dhabi TV and on the programme’s official YouTube channel, with support from ADNOC, Erth Zayed Philanthropies and the UAE Aid Agency.

Since its launch in 2018, the programme has reached more than 60,000 beneficiaries across 19 countries, promoting sustainable solutions and long-term self-reliance under its guiding principle, “People for People”.
