Tata Projects Limited has been appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for a new Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project in the Middle East, being developed by SAF One Energy Management Limited.
The HEFA-based (Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids) facility will convert used cooking oil and other waste oils and fats into low-carbon aviation fuel, supporting regional and global efforts to decarbonise the aviation sector and reduce reliance on conventional fossil-based jet fuel.
SAF One Energy Management focuses on supplying sustainable aviation fuel to the global aviation industry and is co-founded by Novus Aviation Capital Limited and Sencirc Holding Limited. The Middle East development marks a key milestone in the company’s strategy to build a global portfolio of SAF production facilities, including a planned project in India.
Under the agreement, Tata Projects will deliver an integrated and scalable EPC solution, drawing on standardised designs, advanced construction techniques and modular execution strategies. The approach is designed to improve schedule certainty, optimise capital efficiency and allow faster replication of SAF facilities across multiple regions.
The project will integrate proven international process technologies for feedstock pre-treatment and hydroprocessing, enabling flexibility across various waste-based inputs while ensuring compliance with ASTM D7566 international SAF standards. Tata Projects’ scope includes overall project integration, constructability-led design development and execution readiness for what will be among the first SAF facilities of its kind in the region.
Rajiv Menon, President and COO – Energy & Industrial Business at Tata Projects, said Sustainable Aviation Fuel represents one of the most immediate and scalable pathways for aviation decarbonisation. He noted that the partnership with SAF One reflects a shared focus on building efficient, repeatable and execution-ready SAF infrastructure to accelerate global deployment.
Deepak Munganahalli, co-founder and CEO of SAF One, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s “design one, build many” strategy. He highlighted Tata Projects’ experience in delivering complex energy infrastructure under fixed-price, lump-sum turnkey EPC models, along with its emphasis on safety, standardisation and constructability.
