The Launch of Al Sila Veterinary and Agricultural Services Centre by ADAFSA

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) initiated the Al Sila Veterinary and Agricultural Services Centre on 13th January. This action is in line with ADAFSA’s goal and mission of developing an ecosystem where farmers and livestock breeders will have high-quality and high-standard services, and animal health will also improve altogether in Al Sila.

This launch is part of ADAFSA’s mission to improve the quality and standard of veterinary and agricultural services and make them easily accessible for the residents of Al Sila. This is in line with ADAFSA’s long-term vision of promoting agricultural and livestock sustainability and improving animal health by controlling diseases in the livestock sector. The launch of the Centre will ensure that ADAFSA’s mission and vision of promoting sustainability in both the crop and livestock sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are fulfilled.

The inauguration ceremony was held on 13th January and was attended by Mouza Suhail Al Muhairi, who is also the Deputy Director General for Regulatory and Administrative Affairs. Other attendees include various representatives of the Government, along with Mubarak Al Qusaili Al Mansouri, who is Advisor to the Director General, Mohammed Khalfan Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector, and last but not the least, Rashid Mohammed Al Mansouri, who is Executive Director of the Animal Wealth Sector.

The Centre’s veterinary part focuses on the welfare of the livestock, preventing and controlling diseases among the livestock, and ensuring excellent health of the animals. The agricultural part focuses on the sustainability of the crops and a better ecosystem for them to thrive in. The Centre aims to provide multiple agricultural and veterinary services, including laboratory diagnostics, clinical examinations, vaccinations from time to time, and treatment for various diseases. It also offers extension services for the welfare of the crops and livestock. The focus is on adopting best practices for the welfare of the crops and animals’ health on the whole.

ADAFSA believes and emphasizes that the initiation of the Al Sila Centre is a concrete step towards modernizing service frameworks, improving biosecurity, and improving the overall sustainability of the livestock and agricultural sector across the Emirate.

ADAFSA also stressed that the launch of the Centre will be an immense support to the farmers and breeders, as it will reduce service delivery times. In case of veterinary and agricultural emergencies, the Al Sila Centre can play a pivotal role in responding to critical situations, as it improves the readiness of the field teams to deal with emergencies.

The Centre, in short, is an epitome of ADAFSA’s efforts to increase its geographical footprint, meet local community needs, and improve the overall life standards of the residents of Al Sila.
