UAE astronaut Hazzaa Al Mansoori: Incremetal Lead role for ISS Expedition 69

Hazzaa Al Mansoori is the first UAE astronaut and a graduate of the UAE astronauts corps of the Dubai-based Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), home of the UAE space programme.

Al Mansoori launched to the International Space Station ISS) on September 25, 2019, onboard a Soyuz M5-15 spacecraft.

He spent eight days on the ISS, conducting various experiments, before returning to Earth on October 3, 2019, and landing aboard a Soyuz MS-12 capsule in Kazakhstan.

Operating from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in the United States and acting as a key link between NASA and the MBRSC Al Mansoori is the Incremental Lead of Expedition 69 to the ISS, the entire Crew-6, including the second UAE astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi, who has spent six months on the ISS.

In so doing, Al Neyadi has set a record for the longest Arab manned space mission. He also conducted the first-ever spacewalk by an Arab astronaut on April 28, 2023.

Johnson Space Center is home to the American astronaut corps, the International Space Station mission operations, the Orion Program, and several other ongoing and future space missions.
