The UAE is expected to see a period of unsettled weather over the coming days, with rain, thunderstorms and occasional strong winds forecast as a low-pressure system develops across the region.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the country will be affected by a surface low extending from the Red Sea, alongside an upper-air trough. This weather pattern is set to create atmospheric instability from Saturday through to next Friday.
Conditions are expected to range from partly cloudy to overcast, with chances of light to moderate rainfall across several areas. Rainfall could become heavy at times, particularly over coastal regions, islands and parts of the north.
From Tuesday onwards, cloud formation is forecast to increase, bringing periods of heavier showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. The NCM has also warned that hail may occur in isolated areas.
Winds are likely to strengthen at times, potentially raising dust and sand and reducing horizontal visibility, especially in open areas.
Meanwhile, local weather monitoring platform Storm Centre has named the system “Al Bashair,” meaning “good tidings,” highlighting that the expected rainfall follows a prolonged dry spell across the country.
The centre noted that the upcoming weather could mark a notable shift after weeks of limited rainfall, offering much-needed precipitation for parts of the UAE.
