The UAE’s battery energy storage market is expected to reach approximately US$3.25 billion by 2030, driven by rising demand for renewable energy and advanced storage solutions, according to Trinasolar.
Jack Chen, Head of Energy Storage for the Middle East and Africa at Trinasolar, said the market is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 41.2 percent between 2025 and 2030.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of Middle East Energy 2026 in Dubai, Chen described the UAE as a strategic market for Trinasolar, the parent company of Trina Storage. The company operates its regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa from Dubai.
Chen said the Middle East’s battery energy storage market is estimated to have between 2 and 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of installed capacity in 2026, with a total system value of US$600 million to US$900 million. Demand is currently concentrated in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The regional market is expected to expand at an annual rate of 20 to 25 percent through 2035, with yearly installations projected to reach between 15 and 25 GWh by the end of the forecast period. Growth will be supported by utility-scale projects, commercial and industrial applications, and residential energy storage.
Trina Storage recorded more than 25 GWh in cumulative global energy storage system shipments by the end of June 2026. Its overseas shipments increased by 250 percent year-on-year during the first half of the year.
Confirmed orders across the Middle East and Africa, as well as the Asia-Pacific region excluding China, reached 4.92 GWh by June 2026, reflecting growing international demand for energy storage systems, including in Gulf markets.
Chen said Trinasolar is continuing to expand its UAE operations by strengthening its local presence, technical support and customer service capabilities. The company invested US$314.1 million in research and development during the first half of 2026.
Trina Storage currently operates 31 service centres covering more than 100 countries and regions, supported by over 230 service engineers. The company is also adding 20 GWh of new production capacity in 2026 to meet rising demand, including from the Middle East.
Trinasolar is working with utilities, project developers and engineering, procurement and construction contractors across the UAE and the wider region as solar power and energy storage deployment accelerates.
Chen said the next stage of growth for the Middle East and Africa’s energy storage sector would depend on deploying systems at scale while meeting increasingly complex technical and operational requirements. Trina Storage is developing integrated solutions focused on performance, reliability and flexibility to support renewable energy projects across the region.
