UAE officially joins World Gymnastics, gains access to international events

The UAE has officially joined World Gymnastics, marking a new step in the country’s efforts to strengthen its presence in international gymnastics competitions and development programmes.

The country is represented by the Gymnastics Committee of the UAE Sports for All Federation, which will now be eligible to participate in international gymnastics events and initiatives organised under the global governing body.

Saeed Ali Alajil, President of the UAE Sports for All Federation, said the federation received an official letter confirming the UAE’s international membership following approval at the World Gymnastics Congress in Bangkok, Thailand.

Alajil said the membership reflects the federation’s strategy to expand international partnerships, enhance cooperation and knowledge exchange, and support the continued development of sport across the UAE.

He added that joining World Gymnastics will also create opportunities for the UAE to participate in global programmes and gymnastics competitions while supporting efforts to identify and develop talented athletes among both citizens and residents.

The establishment of the Gymnastics Committee within the UAE Sports for All Federation was supported by the UAE National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, Alajil said.

He noted that the initiative is expected to strengthen the UAE’s position in gymnastics and contribute to the long-term development of the Olympic sport at national and international levels.
