The UAE’s newly approved National Programme for Developing the Statistics System will strengthen the country’s use of data as a strategic national asset, according to Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive of the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment at Digital Dubai.
Al Nasser said the programme would support evidence-based policymaking, future planning and informed decision-making across government. He noted that reliable, integrated and regularly updated data has become essential as global economies face rapid change.
High-quality statistics, he added, are critical for improving government efficiency, strengthening competitiveness and building a more resilient and sustainable economy.
Al Nasser also highlighted the growing importance of official statistics in the age of artificial intelligence. He said AI systems and analytical models can only deliver accurate insights and effective solutions when supported by trusted, integrated data that meets international standards.
Dubai remains committed to developing a world-class data and statistics ecosystem through cooperation between government entities and the use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and register-based data.
According to Al Nasser, this approach will help produce more timely, accurate and comprehensive indicators, improve decision-making at all levels and reinforce the UAE and Dubai’s global position in using data to support economic growth, sustainable development and quality of life.
