In a groundbreaking move to advance digital education, the UAE Government has partnered with Google to provide all university students across the country with a free one-year subscription to Google Gemini Pro, one of the world’s most powerful generative artificial intelligence (AI) platforms.
The initiative is a key step under the UAE’s National AI Strategy, which aims to cultivate a highly skilled, future-ready talent base equipped with cutting-edge AI capabilities. Eligible students aged 18 and above can register for the free Gemini Pro plan using their personal email accounts until December 9, 2025.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, described the initiative as a reflection of the UAE’s commitment to nurturing national talent.
“The UAE continues to prioritize developing national skills through AI technologies,” Al Olama said. “Our forward-looking strategy focuses on empowering society through technology and partnerships that encourage continuous learning and innovation.”

The announcement comes amid a surge in AI adoption among students. According to Anthony Nakache, Google’s Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, search trends reveal a 110% increase in AI and education-related queries in the UAE over the past two months compared to the same period last year.
“This shows a growing appetite among students and educators to experiment with AI for learning and creativity,” Nakache said. “Through this partnership, every university student in the UAE can now benefit from Gemini’s advanced tools to enhance their research, productivity, and innovation skills.”
