VAST Data keeps pace with the rapidly digitalising GCC region

The company finds GITEX platform ideal for regional networking

With the GCC region undergoing a transformative change in terms of rapid digitalisation, complemented by the induction of generative AI, big data and data analytics, New York-headquartered VAST Data, the AI data platform company, is likewise keeping up pace with the rapidly changing marketplace, according to Haider Aziz, Managing Director (META) of VAST Data.

In an interview at GITEX Global – the largest tech and startup event in the world – held at Dubai World Trade Centre from October 16-20, 2023, Aziz emphasised: “The region [GCC] is moving at the speed of light, and we [VAST Data] along with it.

“A new initiative in our space comes up every day in the region, whether from the private or public sectors, and not just from using AI, but increasingly the use of generative AI, especially being spearheaded by government authorities and departments.”

Flagship product

Rated as the fastest-growing data infrastructure company in history, VAST Data has been going from strength to strength since its founding in 2016, with VAST Data Platform – the company’s flagship product – being an outright winner with global customers.

The VAST Data Platform is a revolutionary approach to data-intensive computing by functioning as the comprehensive software infrastructure required to capture, catalogue, refine, enrich, and preserve data through real-time deep data analysis and deep learning.

The VAST data platform delivers scalable performance, radically simple data management, and enhanced productivity by accelerating time-to-insight for workload-intensive applications.

With generative Al technologies being increasingly used by malicious actors to target large-scale enterprises in the GCC region and further afield, Aziz dismissed his company’s digital assets facing cyberattacks, saying: “We have multilayers of cyber protection, and we also work with multi-security organisations that work to keep our data and our customers’ data safe and secure at all times.”

G42 Cloud partnership

This August, G42 Cloud, a leading cloud provider in the UAE, signed a strategic partnership with VAST Data wherein the former will use the VAST Data Platform to construct a central data foundation for a global network of AI supercomputers and to store and learn from hundreds of petabytes of data.

G42 Cloud chose to partner with VAST Data due to the VAST Data Platform’s simplicity, scalability, resilience, and overall cost of ownership benefits. The platform, built on VAST’s Disaggregated Shared-Everything Architecture (DASE), offers G42 Cloud the scalability in both performance and size needed for exascale AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

Additionally, the platform provides G42 Cloud with the multi-tenancy features essential for zero-trust cloud environments.

Aziz stressed that his company needed to exhibit and be present at GITEX Global 2023 as the mega event allowed VAST Data “the opportunity to meet like-minded organisations, vendors and the like, including being able to formulate plans with partners on how to jointly and collaboratively enter markets”.

In his experience, Aziz stated that customers in the GCC region “are always seeking new technologies to enhance their day-to-day operations, cut costs, and improve ROI”.
