As India celebrates 80 years of independence, the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on how far the country has come and the growing global presence of its businesses and entrepreneurs. For Indian business leaders based in the UAE, the milestone also provides a chance to look at the changing role of Indian enterprise and the opportunities that lie ahead. Sharing his perspective, PC Musthafa, Chairman & Global CEO of iD Fresh Food says
“India’s independence gave us the freedom to shape our own future. Eight decades later, one of the clearest signs of that progress is the confidence with which Indians are building businesses, creating jobs, and taking their ideas to the world.
The UAE has been an important part of this journey. The relationship between the two countries has grown through people, trade, investment and entrepreneurship. For Indian businesses, the UAE also offers a strong platform to understand changing consumer needs and build for a wider regional market.
The food industry is a good example of this opportunity. Consumers across the region are becoming more conscious about what goes into their food. There is growing interest in clean-label products, simple ingredients, freshness and greater transparency. This creates a lot of room for Indian food businesses that can combine the depth of our food heritage with the quality and standards that today’s consumers expect.
What gives me confidence is the mindset of Indian entrepreneurs today. They are thinking beyond borders and looking at global markets from the very beginning. We are seeing Indian businesses bring new ideas into food, technology, manufacturing and many other sectors.
As we mark 80 years of independence, I believe the next chapter will be about taking Indian enterprise even further. India has a huge opportunity to build global businesses that are rooted in the country’s strengths while responding to what consumers around the world are looking for.”
