This strategic partnership aims to facilitate the exchange of information, research papers, studies, and knowledge within their respective areas of expertise. Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of AGDA, and Dr Lamya Fawwaz, Executive Director of Brand and Strategic Initiatives at Masdar, signed the agreement during a ceremony held at Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy on 19th June 2023. The event was attended by senior officials from both institutions, who witnessed the commitment of AGDA and Masdar to fostering fruitful collaboration.

The MoU outlines several areas of collaboration, including exploring joint training programs, coordinating communication efforts, initiating collaborative projects and events, and sharing organizational expertise.

H.E Nickolay Mladenov, Director General of Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, said: “Through strategic partnerships, Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy embraces the transformative power of collaboration, as we unite with local and international organizations to empower aspiring diplomats. This MoU signifies our shared dedication to excellence and highlights the immense potential we unlock when we join hands with esteemed UAE institutions.”

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of AGDA, said: “As we undertake joint research projects and foster an environment conducive to dialogue and knowledge sharing, AGDA and Masdar will work together to organize meetings, visits, and seminars on topics of mutual interest. These initiatives facilitate the exchange of best practices and innovative research. By engaging in these activities and establishing exchange programs, we further strengthen the capabilities of future diplomats and professionals in the field.”

Dr Lamya Fawwaz, Executive Director of Brand and Strategic Initiatives at Masdar, said:“Through this collaboration we will design and organize a series of youth climate negotiation simulations and equip more than 200 young people with skills needed to deal with some of the most difficult and urgent challenges of our time.  By enabling young people to have this robust exchange of ideas we will drive meaningful engagement on the path to a net-zero future.”

AGDA and Masdar have established three main goals for their collaboration. These goals involve the creation and coordination of a series of Youth Climate Negotiation Simulation Workshops, with the aim of empowering over 200 young climate negotiators by providing them with the essential knowledge and skills required for effective engagement in climate negotiations. Additionally, both parties are committed to exchanging perspectives and ideas pertaining to the research and training areas relevant to their respective objectives.

The climate negotiation workshops will include members of Y4S. Since 2016, Masdar’s Y4S program has supported more than 39,000 young people, aged between 18 and 35, to gain sustainability knowledge and leadership skills through a combination of virtual and real-life events.

With this MoU in place, Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and Masdar are poised to drive significant advancements in their respective fields. Through joint initiatives and the exchange of knowledge, both parties are dedicated to creating a positive impact and realizing their shared objectives.
