Malaffi Receives Prestigious Gold Initiative Certificate

For Excellence inInteroperability and Health Information Exchange

Malaffi, the region’s first Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform and a strategic initiative of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), was awarded a Platinum Star in the category of Interoperability and Health Information Exchange, as part of the Gold Initiative Certificate by the Arab Hospitals Federation in partnership with HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society).

The award was presented during the 24th edition of MedHealth Abu Dhabi, hosted by the Arab Hospitals Federation in partnership with HIMSS, to Kareem Shahin, Acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (Malaffi).

Malaffi received the award for demonstrating exceptional commitment to advancing digital health standards, fostering seamless healthcare data exchange, and pioneering innovative solutions that significantly enhance patient care and overall healthcare efficiency in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

“The Gold Certificate further affirms the focus of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and Malaffi to advancing digital health in the region. It highlights our efforts in progressing the interoperability agenda and applying the highest healthcare data exchange standards,” said Kareem Shahin, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (Malaffi).

“The recognition also aligns perfectly with our belief that collaboration and shared experiences are at the core of healthcare transformation in the region. Malaffi, as MENA’s trailblazing HIE, serves as a blueprint for other similar regional efforts, and we are eager to share our knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative spirit among Arab healthcare organisations. Together, we can elevate the entire healthcare ecosystem in our region, ultimately benefiting the patients we collectively serve,” he added.

Alice Yammine Boueiz, the Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Hospitals Federation and the official spokesperson congratulated Malaffi for achieving the prestigious Gold Certificate in Interoperability and Health Information Exchange. “This outstanding achievement exemplifies Malaffi’s performance and seamless collaboration within the healthcare ecosystem. This accolade not only reaffirms Malaffi’s position as a leader in the Healthcare Digital Transformation but also underscores the positive impact they have on patient care and well-being.
