LEADING EMIRATI ARTIST, AZZA AL QUBAISI, TO HOST EXCLUSIVE WORKSHOP

Azza Al Qubaisi, will be hosting an exclusive workshop at the 30th annual edition of the Jewellery & Watch Show (JWS) in Abu Dhabi this November.

Azza has dedicated her career to empowering young and emerging talent in the region, providing a platform for aspiring jewellery designers to share their work in front of an international audience and gain hands-on mentorship from leading industry experts.

In line with her passion for teaching the craft of jewellery design, Azza will be running a cuttlefish casting workshop on Saturday, 4 November, from 4PM to 7PM.

The session will include using cuttlefish bone, a material prized for its ability to withstand high temperatures, to carve moulds for silver.

Throughout the workshop, participants can expect to learn about basic jewellery techniques, cultural traditions, classic styles, and artistic movements that have been employed by different designers throughout the history of the jewellery-making process.

Azza Al Qubaisi, workshop leader and co-founder of the Ebda’a Awards, said: “Casting with cuttlefish bone is one of the oldest jewellery-making techniques, having been used for centuries because of its simplicity and speed.  The two pieces of cuttlebone are flattened by the friction, creating channels to hold molten metal.”

She added: “This workshop is for anyone – whether you’re an expert craftsman or simply an aspiring artist. I’m excited to get people involved in a process that has withstood the test of time and continues to be set apart as a highly successful form of jewellery mould-making in today’s local market.”

Azza’s highly anticipated workshop debuts this edition of JWS Abu Dhabi. By promoting skill development, encouraging artistic expression, and preserving cultural tradition, Azza continues to redefine what it means to push the creative boundaries of jewellery design while maintaining the integrity of the craft.

All materials for the limited-time workshop, including the cuttlefish bone, carving tools, and silver 925, will be provided. Workshop requirements may vary, so it is essential to follow the steps provided by organisers to secure a spot for the session. To register now, visit https://bit.ly/JWS23aw.
