Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), said: “UNESCO’s officially adoption of an Emirati proposal to designate the international day of coding and the international day for digital education signifies the profound recognition of the international organization accords to the Emirati achievements in this field. It serves as a global testament of the paramount role played by the UAE government in leveraging technological advancements that enhance the quality of education. This recognition is deeply anchored in a history marked by pioneering global projects and a strategic portfolio driven by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. More than two decades ago, his vision aimed at bringing about revolutionary changes in the education landscape, materializing in the inception of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University as the first smart university in the region, offering an innovative smart education model. I hope that the adoption of this new UAE initiative by UNESCO serves as a catalyst, inspiring universities, higher education institutions and educational stakeholders across the nation to intensify their efforts in accelerating digital transformation in education. This involves the incorporation of digital solutions into curricula and educational models.
