Volts UAE, an ambitious energy storage company

The first energy storage manufacturer in the United Arab Emirates Volts UAE is beginning to implement an ambitious plan of expanding into global markets and build first gigafactory and research center in Abu Dhabi.

Volts UAE Ltd. was founded in Abu Dhabi in 2019 by entrepreneurial engineers. The company started operating in cooperation with Masdar as one of the Catalyst accelerator projects. In few years Volts has developed and in 2023 opened a showroom and than a full-scale production of energy storage devices in Masdar City becoming the first manufacturer of such a product in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.

Today Volts UAE expands with the intention of founding local energy storage productions in several countries around the world and announces the foundation of a large-scale gigafactory project which will be based in Abu Dhabi (and also become first gigafactory in UAE) and produce industrial and home energy storage systems and battery cells.

The gigafactory will also include RnD center that will study the operation of batteries (of various materials) at extremely high and low temperatures which is promisingly in the context of global climate change.

Energy storage with solar panels helps to store electricity anywhere on the planet, especially in places where there are no grids. Many people on Earth still do not have any access to electricity. Energy storage systems solve such problems and cover one of the basic needs of every modern person.

Volts global idea is that with help of energy storage system every person on Earth can have stable, clean, affordable electricity in the house or apartment. This idea aligns with one of Sustainable Development Goals (number seven) developed in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly as «shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future».

Volts is based in the United Arab Emirates and plans to continue operating from here: founders are convinced that UAE is one of the new geopolitical centers of the world, which is already establishing energy trends of the future. The policy of sustainable development, ensuring a high quality of life for every resident which are set by the royal family are consonant with the values of Volts. From here Volts plans to enter the markets of the BRICS countries, Central Asia and Africa. Volts target markets are now in developing countries, many of which have no large power generation and distribution facilities.

Future plans

At the end of 2023 Volts will take part in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28). During the event the start of the first energy storage gigafactory project in UAE will be announced. The project will involve investments in the amount approximately $350 million. The construction of the gigafactory is planned in the KIZAD free zone. The gigafactory will include production of  battery cells that will be distributed to Volts local manufactories in other countries and an RnD center.
