EVIQ and Red Sea Global to boost Saudi Arabia’s EV infrastructure

Partnership targets new tourism destinations

In a pivotal move to advance sustainable transportation across Saudi Arabia, EVIQ and Red Sea Global (RSG) have unveiled a strategic partnership to boost electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at some of Saudi Arabia’s premier travel and tourism destinations.

This strategic initiative is poised to accelerate EV adoption, mitigate carbon emissions, and foster a greener, more sustainable future for Saudi Arabia.

EVIQ (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company) specialises in EV infrastructure, while Red Sea Global develops tourism destinations such as The Red Sea and Amaala projects in Saudi Arabia.

Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development, the new initiative will initially focus on integrating cutting-edge EV charging stations within RSG’s tourism sites, starting with the Red Sea destination. Future expansions may encompass other RSG projects, including the Amaala development.

Under the terms of the new partnership, EVIQ will install, operate, and maintain EV chargers at RSG destinations. Concurrently, RSG and EVIQ will collaborate to procure state-of-the-art EV charging hardware.

At the same time, RSG is evaluating potential sites for deploying public EV charging stations to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles in Saudi Arabia and the neighbouring region.

Mohammad Bakr Gazzaz, CEO of EVIQ, highlighted the collaboration’s strategic significance: “Our partnership with Red Sea Global marks a pivotal milestone in our mission to expand EV infrastructure across Saudi Arabia. Through this alliance, we aim not only to enhance the availability of EV charging solutions but also to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”

John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, added: “We are already proud owners of the largest off-grid EV charging network in Saudi Arabia, yet we strive for continuous improvement. This collaboration with EVIQ represents another stride toward our goal of providing guests with a seamless and eco-conscious travel experience.”

In January 2024, EVIQ launched its inaugural electric vehicle fast-charging site at Roshn Front in Riyadh. This step marked a significant milestone for the joint-venture company formed between the Public Investment Fund and Saudi Electricity Company.
