ICEYE and SATIM enter partnership
For AI-powered SAR imagery analysis products
ICEYE, a global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations, and SATIM, a world leader in AI-based solutions for Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) on SAR imagery, have signed a partnership agreement to develop joint products.
The collaboration will combine ICEYE’s advanced satellite imagery with SATIM’s cutting-edge AI-driven analytics to create innovative products that enable prompt, high-confidence detection and classification of vessels, aircraft, and land vehicles.
The partnership promises to enhance the utility of SAR data significantly. By integrating ICEYE’s high-resolution satellite imagery with SATIM’s AI-powered image analytics solutions, the two companies aim to create a series of new products for release in 2025. These products will give customers actionable intelligence and real-time insights for various applications, including security, defence, and logistics.
ICEYE currently operates the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation, offering unrivalled access to Earth observation data. Capable of capturing imagery at 25 cm resolution, ICEYE’s satellites provide global coverage under any weather conditions, both day and night. This unparalleled capability allows for frequent revisit rates, providing up-to-date imagery and insights. Since 2018, ICEYE has launched 44 satellites, with plans to deploy more than 20 new satellites annually starting in 2025.
SATIM, on the other hand, is a leader in AI technology for SAR imagery, specialising in Automatic Target Recognition (ATR). The company’s solutions harness AI’s power to detect, classify, and identify various objects quickly and accurately, regardless of time or location. SATIM’s technology is data-agnostic and near real-time, providing fast analysis of multiple targets, making it invaluable for users in dynamic, mission-critical environments.
The upcoming products from ICEYE and SATIM will leverage the combined strengths of both companies, allowing for high-speed, precise recognition of vessels, aircraft, and vehicles in SAR imagery. These capabilities are particularly valuable for government agencies, security forces, and companies that rely on satellite-based intelligence to track assets or monitor potentially suspicious activity on land, at sea, and in the air.
According to Rafal Modrzewski, CEO and Co-founder of ICEYE, this partnership represents a crucial step towards realising ICEYE’s vision of becoming the global source of truth in Earth observation. “By combining our world-leading SAR imagery and capabilities with SATIM’s powerful AI-driven SAR image analytics, we will be able to serve our customers with easy, direct access to actionable intelligence and insights. Improving situational awareness with satellite-based intelligence will enable informed and rapid decision-making where needed most,” he said.
Jacek Strzelczyk, CEO and Co-founder of SATIM, echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of this collaboration in developing advanced space-based solutions. “At SATIM, we continue to set the standards in AI-powered SAR analytics, and our collaboration with ICEYE, a leading SAR imagery provider, is an important milestone in our pursuit of excellence. This partnership marks a significant step in our commitment to advancing space-based solutions that provide critical insights for those on Earth. As we continue to explore new ways to advance the field, this partnership represents an exciting step ahead, and we look forward to what lies ahead in this evolving landscape,” Strzelczyk said.
The partnership will begin with a pilot phase, allowing the two companies to refine their joint solutions before releasing them as generally available products later in 2025. These products are expected to be game-changers for industries that rely on precise and timely data for operational decision-making, from maritime surveillance to border security.
As global demand for Earth observation data and AI-powered analytics grows, the joint efforts of ICEYE and SATIM will undoubtedly set new benchmarks in the field. Together, they aim to enhance the accessibility and utility of SAR imagery and transform how critical insights are generated and applied across various sectors.
