The second edition of the Sharjah Classic Cars Festival takes place from February 13 to 17, 2025, offering a unique opportunity to celebrate the enduring charm of vintage automobiles.
With the theme ‘Where the Story Begins’, the event promises to be a dynamic blend of exhibitions and expert-led discussions exploring the classic car industry’s history, present, and future.
Held at the Sharjah Old Cars Club (SOCC) headquarters, the festival features a variety of discussions on topics critical to the vintage car sector. These include debates on whether classic car ownership is primarily a hobby or a professional pursuit and the impact of technical and aesthetic modifications on a vehicle’s authenticity and market value.
One of the most anticipated discussions will focus on integrating electric technologies into classic vehicles, offering a glimpse into the future of vintage car restoration.
The festival will benefit visitors by allowing them to interact with vintage car experts. Through these interactions, attendees will gain a richer cultural and economic understanding of the classic car industry, potentially inspiring them to participate more actively in the sector.
The festival will also offer a unique opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and gain insights to enhance appreciation and investment in classic cars.
Ahmed Hamad Al Suwaidi, Board Member of the SOCC, said: “The festival’s discussions will serve as a vibrant platform for sharing expertise and igniting fresh ideas. The event will highlight the timeless appeal of classic cars and provide invaluable insights for collectors, including innovative maintenance strategies and methods to enhance the investment potential of their collections. Investors will also have the chance to explore current market trends and gain a deeper understanding of the factors that influence the appreciation or depreciation of these iconic vehicles, empowering them to make more informed decisions.”
One of the festival’s most engaging sessions, ‘Owning Classic Cars: Passion or Investment?’ will examine how classic car ownership has shifted from a hobby to a potential investment opportunity.
In the session titled ‘From Passion to Profit: Turning a Love for Classic Cars into Business Success’, speakers will share inspiring stories and practical advice on how enthusiasts can transform their passion for vintage vehicles into a thriving business.
The ‘Classic Cars Captured in Verse’ session will celebrate how poets have immortalised rare and iconic vehicles, blending creativity and admiration in works that reflect these cars’ cultural and emotional impact.
Another key discussion, ‘How Modifications Influence the Value of Classic Cars’, will explore the delicate balance between enhancing the value of vintage vehicles with modifications and preserving their originality to avoid devaluation. The ‘A New Generation Behind the Wheel: The Appeal of Classic Cars’ session will delve into the growing interest among younger enthusiasts, examining how they personalise classic cars to reflect their unique identities.
Other sessions will touch on topics such as the unique challenges and joys of travelling in classic cars, the role of car clubs in building communities, and the emerging trend of electric conversions in vintage vehicles. The ‘Electric Conversions in Classic Cars: A Path to the Future?’ session will explore how eco-friendly technology is integrated into the vintage car market and its potential impact on the car’s value and appeal among collectors.
