Nominations open for IATA’s 6th Diversity and Inclusion Awards

Featuring 3 categories
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has opened the nominations for the sixth edition of the IATA Diversity and Inclusion Awards, recognising individuals and organisations that have made significant strides in promoting diversity and inclusion within the global aviation industry.
The awards celebrate outstanding efforts to foster a more inclusive environment across the sector and are open for nominations from individuals and organisations actively advancing these values.
The three categories for this year’s awards are as follows:
- Inspirational Role Model Award: This award recognises a senior woman in the air transport industry who has substantially impacted diversity and inclusion. The winner must have demonstrated significant influence on a global level, driving positive change across the industry.
- High Flyer Award: This category honours a female aviation professional under 40 who has displayed leadership and commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in aviation. This award highlights individuals who have contributed to improving the sector’s inclusivity.
- Diversity & Inclusion Team Award: This award recognises an airline’s efforts and celebrates the positive changes in diversity and inclusion achieved through its team’s initiatives. This category looks for measurable impact from the organisation’s commitment to diversity and is open to all IATA member airlines.
Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, stated: “The aviation sector is growing, and attracting more talent to join the industry is critical. Leading initiatives to foster and engage a more gender-balanced workforce will attract a broader set of candidates for aviation’s wide-ranging career opportunities. We are proud of the contributions of previous winners and look forward to receiving applications from an impressive set of applicants for this year’s edition of the IATA Diversity and Inclusion Awards.”
Each of the three winners will receive a $25,000 prize, which Qatar Airways’ sponsorship allows to be directed to the awardee or a charity supporting diversity and inclusion.
Antonio Schulthess, Qatar Airways’ Chief People Officer, said: “Qatar Airways is proud to sponsor IATA’s Diversity and Inclusion Awards. This support is a recognition of the winners’ contribution to positive change in our growing aviation industry and the bright future they hold in it.”
The nominations will be reviewed by an independent judging panel composed of the 2024 winners and chaired by Karen Walker, Editor-in-Chief of Air Transport World.
