Statement by H.E. Ali Salem Al Kaabi, on International Women’s Day

His Excellency Ali Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Family Development Foundation, emphasised the significance of celebrating International Women’s Day, as it is a testament to the strength and will of Emirati women and their counterparts across the globe. It further reflects the efforts of our wise leadership, led by Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to empower women to overcome challenges that they face on their journey towards growth and development. Furthermore, the day emphasizes the strong belief and confidence in Emirati daughters to achieve exceptional milestones in diverse sectors, owing to the constant support offered by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan during his reign, who paved the way to achieve unconditional success.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, His Excellency said: “Under the guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, ‘Mother of the Nation,’ Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the pioneer of the women’s empowerment journey, and the symbol of giving and inspiration, Emirati daughters have achieved exceptional success locally, regionally and globally. Her Highness’s robust ambition and initiatives have empowered daughters of the Emirates to become strong contributors towards developing and creating a prosperous society, and have become shining lights that attained pride and honour globally. They have set exceptional examples of strength, determination and creativity in various fields.”
H.E. Al Kaabi, further highlighted that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan sought to end all forms of discrimination against women and girls, eliminate all forms of violence against them, ensure Emirati women’s active participation in the society by providing equal opportunities, encouraging them to lead and enhancing their societal empowerment by implementing policies and laws that foster gender equality across diverse sectors.
H.E. Al Kaabi stated that International Women’s Day is a significant event that honours the status, role and contribution of women to human civilisation, as well as their efforts in country’s renaissance and nurturing future generations. H.E. lauded the government’s efforts to empower Emirati women and the outcomes we are witnessing today, which have led to significant advancements in women’s participation in diverse fields and have consistently put them at the forefront with their talents and energies that they have harnessed for the well-being of the nation and society.
