Statement by H.E. Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, On Emirati Children’s Day

The vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima, ‘Mother of the Nation,’ significantly contributes towards offering a conducive environment that nurtures children’s growth and develops their skills.

H.E. Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, the Director General of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), praised the UAE’s socially inclusive and child-centric environment, which ensures children’s right to a positive, healthy and balanced life that provides abundant opportunities for learning, development and exploration. She further emphasised the steadfast commitment of the nation and its relevant authorities to foster an ideal environment that caters to different development stages of children, ensuring holistic and well-rounded development that meets their evolving needs and aligns with their continuous growth.

On the occasion of Emirati Children’s Day, Her Excellency said: “The UAE has established new benchmarks in child welfare, owing to the unwavering support and opportunities offered by our wise leadership, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The country has implemented transparent strategies that prioritise children’s rights and empowerment while continuously hosting events and adopting best practices to build a strong, promising generation and a cohesive society.”

Furthermore, H.E. Al Rumaithi expressed her profound gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, ‘Mother of the Nation,’ Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the FDF and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, for her constant commitment to advancing child welfare across the country. She also cited H.H. Sheikha Fatima’s statement reflecting her dedication to children’s development: “We strongly believe that the nurturing and care of children stands as the cornerstone of any successful society. The role of children in shaping a nation’s future is significant, as a country’s development is directly linked to its investment in children’s welfare and its success in ensuring their optimal upbringing.”  

H.E. Al Rumaithi further noted that the Foundation highly values the dedicated work of organisations focused on child development, highlighting their alignment with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership to channel resources toward creating an environment that fosters children’s growth and talent development. She stressed that children represent the nation’s most valuable future asset, emphasising that families play a vital role in providing the essential care and guidance required to nurture confident, capable individuals who will be equipped to face future challenges and contribute meaningfully to society’s sustainable development.
