Deployment in Hatta locality
Dubai Police exhibited one of the force’s Side-by-Side (SxS) patrol vehicles at the Arabian Travel Market, held at Dubai World Trade Centre from April 28 to May 1, 2025.
Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), headquartered in Quebec, Canada, manufactures the SxS, commonly known as a ‘buggy’ or ‘SSV’ at prices that typically begin at US$21,000.
Dubai Police use the four-seater vehicle in the rugged off-road terrain of the Hatta region in the Dubai emirate. This area is becoming increasingly popular among outdoor adventurers due to its numerous camping grounds, trekking trails, and watersports activities.

The police force currently deploys three of the SxSs, generally used by specialised teams from the ‘Hatta Braves’—a dedicated rescue unit within Dubai Police that operates under the Hatta Police Station, tasked with conducting emergency services, including medical aid, in remote and difficult-to-access areas across Hatta.
Dubai Police is on track to acquire additional SxSs from BRP, including models equipped with smart technology, such as digital surveillance cameras and onboard drone carriage and deployment facilities.

SxS vehicles typically feature seating for two to six occupants positioned side by side, a roll cage for safety, and a steering wheel like a car. SxS vehicles are popular for their versatility, with models tailored for utility work, trail riding, farming, or racing.
They feature powerful fossil fuel-powered engines, high ground clearance, and four-wheel drive capabilities, making them ideal for rugged terrain. Accessories such as cargo beds, winches, and lighting systems enhance their functionality. SxS vehicles are commonly used in agriculture, law enforcement, border patrol, construction, and outdoor sports.
BRP specialises in manufacturing motorcycles, ATVS and other high-performance vehicles for recreational, law enforcement, and search-and-rescue purposes. The company operates 14 manufacturing plants in Canada, the United States, Austria, Germany, Finland, Mexico, and Australia.
