The Abu Dhabi EDITION is delighted to announce a collaboration with
celebrated Emirati visual artist, Aisha Al Ali, known as Yoshi, in celebration of Emirati Women’s Day on August
28th. This partnership underscores the hotel’s commitment to championing and showcasing the creative
talents shaping the local art scene.
Known for its dedication to unique, enchanting experiences, The Abu Dhabi EDITION consistently seeks out
collaborations that resonate with the city’s vibrant spirit and deeply-rooted cultural heritage. This year’s
partnership with Yoshi is a tribute to the resilience, artistry, and vital contributions of Emirati women to the
United Arab Emirates.
This special initiative sees Yoshi create a bespoke, limited-edition plantable seed bookmark. The design is an
artistic nod to the strength and grace of Emirati women, featuring a self-portrait character that stands as a
symbol of personal narrative and quiet resilience. She is depicted with a palm tree, a powerful emblem of
Emirati heritage, and a pomegranate, which the artist uses to express feelings beyond words.
Yoshi’s unique artistic approach, which explores themes of identity and emotion, spans from painting to
performance, and is a reflection of the deep-rooted stories and contemporary aspirations of her culture.
The bookmarks will be distributed to hotel guests on the 28th of August, a small gesture that carries a powerful
message of growth, collaboration, and enduring strength.
Yoshi, a multidisciplinary artist and educator, is the founder of Al Reeshah Studio, an independent artist-run
space in Abu Dhabi. Her practice spans painting, pottery, and performance, often exploring personal narratives
and the emotional boundaries shaped by societal norms. Her work has been showcased at the Diriyah Biennial
Foundation and the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2024.
