Young Talent Shines as Baniyas Tops Day Two of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Fujairah

The sixth round of the 2nd edition of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (GI) continued at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, with strong crowds and intense competitions in the under-14 and under-16 divisions.

The matches featured excellent technical skills, with participants eager to score significant points for their teams. At the end of the day, Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club led the rankings, followed by Sharjah self-defence sports club in second and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club in third.

The competitions were attended by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, son of the Crown Prince of Fujairah; H.E. Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; H.E. Nasser Mohammed Al Yamahi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority; H.E. Mohammed Obaid Al Yamahi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ittihad Kalba Football Club Company; along with a number of representatives from partners, clubs, and participating academies.

H.E. Mohamed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the high level of competition, stating that the second day of the tournament showcased a bright generation of talent that bodes well for the future of jiu-jitsu in the UAE. He stated that the matches exhibited both power and technique, as well as the players’ ability to adjust to competing demands. He also stated that Fujairah’s hosting of this round represents the emirate’s expanding prominence on the national sporting map, as well as its role in promoting the sport throughout the country.

H.E. Mohammed Obaid Al Yamahi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ittihad Kalba Football Company, expressed his excitement about attending the championship, describing it as impressive on all levels. He emphasized that the quality of organization embodies the UAEJJF team’s significant experience and commitment to promoting the sport and expanding its participation base. He noted that the enthusiastic crowd created a unique environment, and that the event itself has a significant public impact by bringing families together and instilling virtues of discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship in the younger generation.

Ghazi bin Shikhan, Jiu-Jitsu Supervisor at Al Wasl Club, stated that “participation in this championship provides players with an exceptional experience and a genuine opportunity to test their readiness in the midst of fierce competition and strong fan support.” These conditions help them improve their talents and gain confidence. The goal goes beyond winning medals; it is about developing a generation capable of constant improvement and reaching the podium at higher levels.”

Parent Haitham Abu Hujla stated, “Being here to watch my children and their teammates play is an incredible experience. It allows families to celebrate moments of pride and achievement while also creating a positive environment that brings people together from all over the Emirates.”

Mohammed Saeed Al Baloushi, an Al Ain Club competitor in the under-14 / white belt 34 kg division and gold medalist, stated, “I won today because of constant training and the encouragement of my family and coaches. My dream is to join the national team and represent the UAE at world championships, and I will work hard to make that happen.”
