The spirit of Lila evolves once more with the arrival of Tacos Camino, a vibrant, fast-casual concept from Chef Shaw Lash. The celebrated force behind Dubai’s cult-favourite Lila Taqueria and Lila Molino + Café, Lash now brings her signature fire, flavour, and flair to The Market Island, the region’s most dynamic food hall. Tacos Camino distils the essence of Lila’s open-fire cooking into an experience that is approachable, energetic, and uncompromising in quality.

A former protégé of culinary icons Rick Bayless and Diana Kennedy, Lash has become one of the UAE’s most respected voices in authentic Mexican cuisine. Her approach blends heritage and integrity, from grinding heirloom Mexican corn in-house for hand-pressed tortillas to sourcing ingredients through a trusted network of local farmers and makers.

“Tacos Camino celebrates everything we love about Mexican food,” says Lash. “It’s flavourful, fiery, and made to be shared. We wanted to create something fast and fun that still holds the soul and honesty of what we do at Lila. For me, Mexican food has always been about connection, the sound of the grill, the smell of the corn, the way people gather around a table. It’s food that tells a story, and with Tacos Camino, we’re opening that story to everyone, whether it’s a quick bite between meetings or a family meal on the weekend.”

Founded alongside her partner Tarek Islam, the Lila brand first made waves in 2022 with its Jumeirah taqueria, followed by the opening of an Molino – all-day café in Alserkal Avenue. Tacos Camino marks the next evolution of their journey, a scalable concept designed to bring Lila’s signature craftsmanship to a wider audience.

The menu centres on charcoal-grilled proteins, hormone-and antibiotic-free chicken and beef, fresh shrimp, and local mushrooms, served in tacos, burritos, tortas, bowls, or quesadillas. Guests can customise with salsas ranging from green tomatillo to smoky chipotle or spicy taqueria, add fresh guacamole, and round out their meal with a vibrant agua fresca. Weekends introduce breakfast favourites like the bacon and jalapeño egg bun and the indulgent Chile-fudge brownie sundae.
