Sharjah Municipality, in collaboration with Kalba Municipality, has officially inaugurated the first Medical Fitness Center in Kalba, marking a major milestone in expanding public health and preventive services across the emirate.

The new facility was opened under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Executive Council. The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Kalba, and Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, alongside senior officials and dignitaries.

Expanding Sharjah’s health infrastructure

The Kalba Medical Fitness Center will offer medical examinations for residency and professional health cards, providing convenient access to essential services for residents and workers. The initiative aligns with Sharjah’s vision of ensuring high-quality healthcare for all, promoting community well-being, and improving service efficiency through innovation and digital transformation.

Speaking at the inauguration, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji highlighted that the new center is part of the municipality’s broader strategy to expand its network of medical fitness centers across Sharjah.

“This center reflects our commitment to enhancing public health and providing advanced, efficient medical services under the supervision of experienced professionals,” Al Tunaiji said.

He added that the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and testing equipment, capable of delivering results within minutes  supporting Sharjah’s ongoing efforts toward smart and fast service delivery.

Fast, digital, and customer-focused services

According to Adel Omar Salem, Director of Public Health and Central Laboratories at Sharjah Municipality, the new center integrates cutting-edge digital systems to ensure speed, accuracy, and convenience.

“After submitting their documents and providing blood samples, clients receive results via SMS within two hours,” Salem explained.
He emphasized that the center’s trained medical and technical staff are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Partnership for a healthier community

Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Mazrouei, Director of Kalba Municipality, praised the collaboration with Sharjah Municipality in establishing the center and equipping it with the latest technology.

“This facility will greatly benefit residents by saving time and effort, while supporting the emirate’s mission to prevent diseases and enhance quality of life,” Dr. Al Mazrouei said.
He also revealed that plans are underway to expand the range of services at the center, transforming it into a comprehensive healthcare hub for the Kalba community.

Clean air initiative launched alongside

In conjunction with the opening, Sharjah Municipality also launched a mobile air quality monitoring vehicle designed to track air quality across various locations in the city. The vehicle is equipped with advanced sensors capable of detecting pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, ozone, sulfur oxides, and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10).

The data gathered will be used to analyze pollution trends and guide future environmental projects, including initiatives to increase greenery and improve air quality in high-traffic zones reinforcing Sharjah’s long-term sustainability goals.

With the launch of the Kalba Medical Fitness Center and the new environmental monitoring system, Sharjah continues to strengthen its position as a regional leader in health, safety, and environmental stewardship  in line with its recognition as the first Healthy City in the Middle East and North Africa.
