Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) successfully concluded the 25th Cycle of the Student
Workshops, held virtually from 20th to 22nd October 2025, under the theme “Paradox of Choice:
Protecting the Present, Cultivating the Future.” Marking a significant Silver Jubilee milestone,
the programme brought together virtually over 400 students from 73 schools across the UAE for
a three-day series of engaging, sustainability-focused sessions designed to educate, empower
and inspire the nation’s youth toward responsible environmental action.
Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group,
stated: “EEG takes immense pride in shaping environmentally conscious future leaders through
this transformative platform. Over the past 25 years, this initiative has instilled a deep sense of
purpose, responsibility and innovation in our youth. As we look ahead, one truth remains clear
— investing in young minds delivers the greatest return, driving lasting environmental and
societal progress. This programme is not merely an EEG initiative; it is a national legacy, leaving
an indelible mark on the UAE’s educational landscape and strengthening our shared journey
toward a more sustainable and resilient future.”
Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi added: “Since its inception in 2001, the Emirates Environmental Group
has conducted its Annual Students’ Workshops to engage primary, intermediate and secondary
students from both government and private schools across the UAE. The initiative seeks to
strengthen environmental literacy, foster responsible citizenship, and encourage proactive
climate action among young learners. To date, EEG has empowered over 9,113 students and
1,693 teachers representing over 1,755 schools.”
She further added “The workshops serve as a catalyst for fostering critical thinking, creativity
and sustainability-driven leadership, reaffirming EEG’s long-standing commitment to shaping
environmentally conscious generations equipped to develop innovative and impactful solutions
for a more resilient and sustainable world.”
Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi concluded by saying: The programme goes beyond its immediate
educational value—it is a powerful contributor to several United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (UN SDGs). This year’s topics and themes were aligned with Goal #3: Good
Health and Well-Being, Goal #4: Quality Education, Goal #7: Affordable and Clean Energy,
Goal #9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Goal #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities,
Goal #12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal #13: Climate Action, Goal #14: Life
Below Water, Goal #15: Life on Land and Goal #17: Partnerships for the Goals.”
The three-day workshop engaged distinct student groups: juniors (10–12 years) on Day 1, subseniors (13–15 years) on Day 2, and seniors (16–18 years) on the final day, ensuring ageappropriate learning and meaningful pro-active environmental engagement across all levels.
Expertly curated by EEG’s in-house educational team, the workshops were designed to broaden
students’ environmental understanding while enhancing their critical thinking and problemsolving abilities. Through a combination of insightful presentations, engaging discussions and
interactive activities, participants explored innovative approaches to sustainable living and were
encouraged to adopt responsible, ethical and eco-conscious behaviours in their daily lives.
The programme was designed to guide students toward responsible and ethical environmental
behaviour, while enhancing their critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills —
empowering them to become conscientious citizens and sustainability ambassadors of
tomorrow.
This year’s programme placed special emphasis on student-led discussions and collaborative
solution-building exercises, empowering participants to become proactive stewards of the
environment and inspiring them to translate awareness into meaningful action within their
schools and communities, thus aligning actions with the UAE’s vision of achieving Net Zero
emissions. The Seniors’ Workshop held on 22nd October was proudly supported by EEG’s
esteemed corporate member, National Bonds, who delivered an engaging and insightful session
on Financial Planning and Literacy under the theme “Conscious Spending.”
