QatarEnergy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, with a particular focus on supplying liquefied natural gas to Egypt.
The agreement was signed at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha by Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi.
According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Kaabi said the MoU builds on recent successful cooperation between the two countries, especially in relation to LNG supplies from QatarEnergy’s portfolio.
He noted that the agreement strengthens bilateral ties and supports joint efforts to secure additional long-term LNG supplies to meet Egypt’s rising energy needs, driven by economic and industrial growth. Al Kaabi added that QatarEnergy looks forward to continued collaboration with the Egyptian authorities and partners to support Egypt’s future LNG requirements.
The MoU lays the groundwork for ongoing cooperation, including long-term LNG deliveries. QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, EGAS, have already agreed on the supply of up to 24 LNG cargoes to Egypt during the summer of 2026.
Both sides have also agreed to begin discussions on further and longer-term LNG supply arrangements as part of their expanding energy partnership.
