Abu Dhabi is reinforcing its emergency preparedness framework through a renewed public awareness drive led by the Abu Dhabi Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre (ADCMC).

Established under Law No. 22 of 2019, ADCMC plays a key role in strengthening the emirate’s ability to respond to emergencies and crises. The centre develops response strategies, evaluates readiness, and coordinates with government entities to ensure swift and effective action while maintaining continuity of essential services.

Second phase of awareness campaign launched

In response to evolving regional conditions, ADCMC has rolled out the second phase of its “Our Community is Prepared” campaign. The initiative focuses on enhancing public awareness during sensitive periods and encouraging residents to follow safety protocols.

The campaign includes targeted messaging for different segments of society, closer coordination with strategic partners, and a strong emphasis on relying only on official sources for information.

Officials said the initiative aims to reassure the public, limit the spread of misinformation, and maintain social stability.

Integrated crisis management system

Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Head of ADCMC, highlighted the emirate’s coordinated approach to crisis management.

He noted that the system is built on collaboration between authorities, continuous data analysis, and timely decision-making to ensure vital services remain uninterrupted across sectors.

He added that current indicators show overall stability, with markets operating normally, essential goods readily available, and supply chains functioning without disruption.

Authorities continue to monitor regional developments closely while strengthening preparedness through risk assessments and inter-agency coordination.

Key safety steps for residents

Residents are encouraged to adopt essential safety measures to enhance household preparedness:

  • Identify emergency exits at home, workplaces, and public locations
  • Set a safe meeting point for family members
  • Keep emergency numbers, including 999, easily accessible
  • Follow official alerts and instructions at all times
  • Maintain a first aid kit and fire extinguisher
  • Prepare an emergency “ready bag” with essentials such as water, food, medications, flashlights, batteries, power banks, and important documents

Understanding unusual signs

Authorities noted that residents may occasionally observe unusual atmospheric activity, including unfamiliar sounds, low-flying objects, or moving lights. While these may not indicate danger, residents are advised to remain cautious and follow official guidance.

Warning system and public alerts

Abu Dhabi’s warning system provides real-time alerts through official channels, including mobile notifications. These alerts include:

  • Potential danger warnings requiring immediate attention
  • Clear instructions such as staying indoors or avoiding certain areas
  • Notifications confirming when risks have passed

Residents are advised to avoid gathering at incident sites, filming emergencies, or sharing unverified information, as such actions can hinder response efforts.

Safety during falling debris incidents

In case of falling debris, residents should:

  • Stay calm and move away from the area
  • Avoid touching or approaching debris
  • Allow emergency teams to operate freely
  • Reassure others and prevent panic
  • Report incidents immediately by calling 999

Authorities stressed that filming or sharing such incidents can obstruct emergency operations and spread misinformation.

Combating misinformation

Officials urged residents to rely only on verified government sources, avoid sharing unconfirmed news, and report suspicious information.

Key emergency contacts in Abu Dhabi include:

  • Police and Civil Defense: 999
  • Electricity emergencies: 991
  • Water emergencies: 992
