The General Women’s Union took part in the UAE-China Business Promotion Conference in Beijing, highlighting the growing role of women in strengthening economic ties between the UAE and China.
Hosted by the UAE Embassy in Beijing in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the conference was held under the theme “From Vision to Value” and brought together senior officials, investors and business leaders from both countries. Discussions focused on boosting trade and investment cooperation across key sectors including finance, energy, sustainability, industry, agriculture, food security, logistics, technology, aviation, retail, research and innovation.
The event also served as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange aimed at supporting new partnerships and expanding economic collaboration between the two nations.
Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, said the conference reflects the continued strength of UAE-China relations, noting that cooperation in women’s empowerment has become an important pillar of the broader strategic partnership.
She said the union’s initiatives are designed to strengthen women’s economic participation and reinforce their role in national and international development, in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation”, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.
Al Suwaidi also pointed to the UAE-China Businesswomen Council as a sign of the maturity of bilateral relations, saying it provides an institutional platform to enhance the role of women entrepreneurs in the global economy.
Counsellor Amna Alhammadi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy in Beijing, said UAE-China relations are built on trust, mutual respect and shared development goals, adding that women’s empowerment remains central to future cooperation between the two countries.
Ghalia Ali Al Mannai, Head of Strategic and Developmental Affairs at the General Women’s Union, said the partnership presents an advanced model of economic cooperation driven by innovation and knowledge, opening wider opportunities for investment and business growth.
The conference also marked the first gathering of the UAE-China Businesswomen Council, with more than 100 entities taking part. The event also saw the signing of memoranda of understanding between the General Women’s Union and leading Chinese economic institutions.
A governance guide for UAE businesswomen councils abroad was also launched to support their establishment and operations in line with international best practices.
China has become the first international destination for this initiative following the establishment of the UAE-China Businesswomen Council in November 2025. The move is aimed at expanding investment opportunities and deepening economic partnerships.
