Zayed International Airport has launched a unique initiative allowing UAE residents and citizens to enter the airport without holding a flight ticket, offering a rare chance to experience its facilities from the inside.
The programme, set to run for eight weeks, gives visitors access to areas typically restricted to departing passengers. Guests can explore retail outlets, enjoy dining options and experience the airport environment without travelling.
To manage access, visitors must register in advance and obtain a digital security pass issued in PDF format, which includes a QR code. This pass must be presented and scanned at various checkpoints, including entry, retail locations and exit points. Upon departure, visitors are required to return their security badge, with authorities warning that failure to comply could impact future participation.
Strict guidelines are in place during the visit. Personal electronic devices such as laptops and tablets are not permitted inside the designated areas, in line with security protocols.
The initiative is open exclusively to UAE ID holders. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Entry is regulated through a booking system, and any changes to appointments require direct coordination with the airport, including the issuance of a new pass.
To enhance the experience, the airport is offering up to four hours of complimentary parking, subject to a minimum spend of Dh200 within the premises. Visitors must obtain a validation voucher before exiting, while all payments are processed through cashless methods.
Although shopping and dining are available as normal, VAT charges still apply. The sale of tobacco and alcohol is excluded from the initiative, as access is granted without a boarding pass.
