Abu Dhabi Police have urged motorists to remain alert and exercise extra caution when driving near schools, warning that distractions can pose serious risks to students and pedestrians.
In an official statement, authorities emphasised the importance of heightened vigilance, especially during peak hours such as morning drop-offs and afternoon dismissals, when traffic congestion and pedestrian activity increase significantly.
Drivers have been advised to slow down, strictly follow pedestrian crossing rules, and come to a complete stop when school bus stop signs are activated. Police also stressed that using mobile phones or engaging in any form of distracted driving significantly raises the risk of accidents.
Reinforcing that road safety is a collective responsibility, authorities called on parents and all road users to work together in promoting safer driving behaviour and ensuring a secure environment for students.
Abu Dhabi Police added that awareness and enforcement campaigns will continue as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety standards and support community wellbeing across the emirate.
