Dubai-based Emirates has launched what it describes as the world’s most comprehensive travel insurance product, becoming the first airline to offer an enhanced travel cover package that includes medical protection for conflict-related incidents alongside extensive travel disruption support.
The new Comprehensive Travel Cover has been developed in partnership with Travel Guard and is designed to provide travellers with greater confidence and protection throughout their journey. In addition to traditional travel insurance benefits, the product offers support in situations where flights are disrupted by conflict-related events.
Under the new programme, Emirates will rebook affected passengers to their final destination at no additional cost if flights are cancelled due to conflict-related disruptions. The airline will also provide hotel accommodation and extended-stay assistance in selected disruption scenarios, helping travellers manage unexpected travel challenges.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, said the initiative was introduced following customer feedback that highlighted a gap in the travel insurance market despite continued strong demand for international travel.
The insurance package includes trip cancellation protection, compensation for baggage delays or loss, unlimited worldwide medical expenses, emergency evacuation cover, and a range of additional benefits aimed at improving traveller security and convenience.
Russel Antonio, Head of Global Business and Partnerships at Travel Guard, said the new offering establishes a new benchmark for travel protection and addresses the evolving needs of modern travellers.
The Comprehensive Travel Cover is currently available for customers purchasing tickets in several markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Canada, and a number of countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
