Living with the HONOR Magic V6: the most useful foldable I have ever tried

For a long time, foldables have existed in that space between impressive and practical.

They looked good in demos. They made sense on paper. But when you actually used them day to day, something always felt slightly off. Too thick in the pocket. Too fragile to treat like a normal phone. Too limited in battery to really lean into everything they promised.

After spending real time with the HONOR Magic V6, it feels like that gap has finally closed.

This is the first foldable I have used that feels complete. Not experimental. Not something you have to adapt to. Just a device that quietly fits into how you already work and live.

A foldable that actually feels slim and comfortable

The biggest surprise with the HONOR Magic V6 is how normal it feels in hand.

You expect it to feel like a foldable. You expect that extra weight or awkward balance. But instead, it feels slim, light, easy to hold, and comfortable enough that you stop noticing it very quickly.

At around 4.0mm when unfolded and 8.75mm when folded, it is incredibly slim for a device of this category, combined with its weight of approximately 219g, it sits in your hand closer to a traditional flagship than a device that opens into a larger display.

That changes how you use it.

Most foldables remind you that they are foldables every time you pick them up. The HONOR Magic V6 does not. It feels closer to a traditional flagship, just thinner and more refined.

You stop thinking about holding it and just use it.

A battery that finally supports the experience

One of the biggest gaps with foldables has always been endurance.

Because naturally, once you have a larger screen and real multitasking, you use the device more. Longer sessions, more apps open, more constant interaction.

The HONOR Magic V6 feels like it was designed with that in mind.

With a 6660mAh battery – the biggest in a foldable -, it has the capacity to support all that usage without forcing you to hold back. You do not find yourself thinking about closing apps, limiting screen time, or adjusting how you use the phone to make it last.

It keeps up. And when you do need to recharge, 80W wired and 66W wireless SuperCharge ensures you’re back up quickly.

That is what matters. Not just the number, but the fact that the battery matches how the device is actually used.

Built for everyday use, not careful handling

The question I had going in was simple. Would I feel the need to handle it carefully.

With the HONOR Magic V6, the answer was no.

That confidence comes from how the device is built. The hinge is designed to handle extensive daily use, supporting hundreds of thousands of folds over time. That is not something you actively think about, but It feels like a phone that expects to be used all day, not protected.

There is also a structural layer of reassurance. The phone integrates all-angle drop protection and an AI-assisted cushioning system that helps distribute impact if it is dropped. It is designed around real-world use, not controlled environments.

The displays also feel more reliable. The inner screen maintains a clean, near crease-free look, thanks to the UTG Flexible Glass while the outer screen is designed for long-term scratch resistance and clarity. The foldable also got IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance.

More importantly, you stop treating it like something delicate. You use it the same way you would any other phone. In your pocket, on a desk, on the move. That shift in behaviour says more than any durability claim.

Fast Flex and AI that fit into real scenarios

The experience becomes more useful when the large foldable screen starts working with the way you think, move, and multitask.

With Fast Flex, I was able to fold and unfold the HONOR Magic V6 to automatically split the screen. The current app stays open on one side, while Gemini or another AI platform appears in the second window. This means users can ask AI about what they are already viewing, without closing the app or switching between screens.

For example, while using Maps, I could fold and unfold the device to bring up Gemini alongside the map, then ask questions about the location, route, nearby places, or anything shown on screen. It turns the foldable display into a more practical workspace where AI supports the task in front of you.

This made the AI experience feel less like a separate feature and more like a natural part of using the phone. Whether you are planning a route, reviewing information, writing content, or checking details across apps, the HONOR Magic V6 helps reduce the number of steps needed to get things done.

Multitasking that genuinely improves how you work

Most foldables talk about multitasking. The HONOR Magic V6 is one of the few where it actually becomes part of how you work.

The real value comes through when you start using the larger screen properly.

Open it up, and you get immediate access to a larger space that supports multiple apps at the same time. Not in a way that feels experimental, but in a way that feels practical and easy to manage

Instead of jumping between apps, you can:

  • review documents while replying to messages
  • keep a conversation open while checking notes
  • move between tasks without losing context

It is a small shift, but over time it makes everything feel faster and more fluid and you can use it more intuitively.

Connectivity that fits into how you already work

Another practical advantage of the HONOR Magic V6 is how easily it fits into existing setups.

It supports cross-device workflows with iPhone and Mac, including file sharing, notification integration, and extended screen functionality when paired with Mac.

What this means in practice is simple. You do not have to change your setup.

If you are already using multiple devices, the HONOR Magic V6 fits into that ecosystem rather than trying to replace it. You can move content, access files, and continue tasks without friction.

It feels like an addition rather than a disruption.

A foldable that finally feels useful

After using the HONOR Magic V6, what stands out is not just one feature, it’s the balance. A slim and comfortable design that feels natural in hand, durability that supports daily use, multitasking that genuinely improves productivity, a battery that matches real-world usage, and connectivity that fits seamlessly into existing workflows. It’s no longer about what a foldable can do; the HONOR Magic V6 shows what a foldable should feel like when everything works together.
