The UAE Ministry of Finance has launched a new training initiative designed to improve asset management practices across federal government entities and develop specialised national expertise.
The ministry signed a strategic partnership with the Asset Management Academy and Turner & Townsend International Ltd. to deliver Institute of Asset Management (IAM) training programmes and professional certifications.
The initiative will help federal entities improve how government assets are planned, managed, evaluated and maintained throughout their lifecycles. It will also provide Emirati professionals with practical skills to support informed decision-making and institutional performance.
Training to Cover AI, Risk and Strategic Planning
The programmes will cover key areas including asset management principles, lifecycle management, risk assessment, performance improvement, strategic planning and artificial intelligence.
Participants will also learn how to maximise the long-term and sustainable value of government assets by applying internationally recognised management practices.
The training will be aligned with global standards, including the ISO 55000 series for asset management. Programmes will be delivered through in-person, remote and hybrid formats based on the operational requirements of individual federal entities.
Graeme Baxter, Country Manager in the UAE, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the country’s asset management capabilities through IAM programmes and certifications.
“Together, we aim to support federal government entities in adopting globally recognised asset management standards, contributing to the UAE’s continued growth and long-term development,” Baxter said.
Building Specialised National Capabilities
The Ministry of Finance said the partnership would support the adoption of international asset management practices while strengthening the professional capabilities required to use data and advanced technologies in government planning.
Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Government Financial Management Sector at the Ministry of Finance, said the initiative was part of wider efforts to enhance government financial management.
She added that the programme would improve the readiness of federal entities to implement global practices and standards while supporting more efficient asset lifecycle management and stronger institutional performance.
Under the agreement, participants will gain access to IAM programmes and certifications based on internationally recognised asset management practices. The training is also expected to help government professionals apply modern methods to planning, performance monitoring, risk assessment and strategic decision-making.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance’s offices in Dubai by Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Baxter. Ministry officials and industry specialists attended the signing ceremony.
