Dubai, UAE — Sept. 2026 — The UAE has the infrastructure, expertise and investment to become a leading aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul hub, a new GE Aerospace study has found.
The study, produced with Aviation Business Middle East magazine and titled “Enhancing Strategic Alignment in the UAE MRO Ecosystem,” sets out how the country can align its strengths to enter the next phase of growth in the sector.
Global MRO spending is expected to reach about $193 billion by the end of this decade, according to Oliver Wyman. The growth is driven by aging aircraft fleets, delayed deliveries, engine durability challenges and limited workshop capacity.
”The UAE’s MRO sector is already robust – deep technical expertise, strong OEM relationships and some of the busiest fleets in the world all sit within a few hours of each other. What this white paper shows is that if the industry brings those pieces into closer alignment, it can capture a share of global MRO demand that matches its true potential,” said Ajinkya Gorab, editor at Aviation Business Middle East.
GE Aerospace’s role
Aziz Koleilat, president and CEO of GE Aerospace for the Middle East, Turkey and the Commonwealth of Independent States, said the company has worked alongside the UAE aviation sector for decades and pointed to the depth of specialized Emirati expertise in the field.
