Abu Dhabi Police have advised delivery motorcycle riders to temporarily suspend their services during periods of unstable weather, particularly rainfall, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and minimise accident risks.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate emphasised that proactive warnings and awareness campaigns are being implemented to safeguard riders, highlighting that their safety remains a key priority within the emirate’s broader smart road safety strategy.

Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Baloushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, noted that motorcycles are primarily built for dry road conditions. He warned that riding in wet weather significantly increases the likelihood of skidding, while also extending braking distances—factors that can lead to serious accidents.

He added that Abu Dhabi Police continue to conduct multilingual awareness workshops in Arabic, English, and Urdu to strengthen safety awareness among delivery riders. These initiatives form part of a wider campaign to encourage responsible and cautious driving behaviour across the emirate.

Authorities further urged riders to resume deliveries only once weather conditions improve. They also stressed the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, including maintaining safe distances, avoiding mobile phone use while riding, wearing appropriate protective gear, ensuring proper motorcycle maintenance and lighting, and steering clear of restricted areas to protect both riders and other road users.
