Dubai, UAE — December 2025 — In a move to strengthen maritime trade ties, AD Ports Group, a global leader in integrated trade, industry, and logistics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kuwait Ports Authority to jointly explore the development and operation of container facilities at Shuaiba Port.
The signing ceremony in Kuwait City was attended by Dr. Noura Al Mashaan, Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works, and Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the document was formally executed by Sheikh Khaled Salem Al Sabah, Director-General of the Kuwait Ports Authority, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.
Pursuant to the agreement, AD Ports Group will undertake comprehensive technical, environmental, and financial feasibility studies, adhering to internationally recognized standards mutually agreed upon by both parties.
The group will also outline the necessary infrastructure for the proposed project. In turn, the Kuwait Ports Authority will allocate the project site within Shuaiba Port, collaborate on the required studies, and assist in securing all essential licenses and approvals from the relevant Kuwaiti government bodies.
Sheikh Khaled Salem Al Sabah remarked: “We are pleased to work with AD Ports Group, a leading global enabler of trade, industry and logistics, on the development of Shuaiba Port, as well as the operation of the container terminal and its quays.”
He added: “We are confident that this collaboration will enhance the port’s capabilities and strengthen its role in supporting maritime trade and transport in the State of Kuwait.”
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: “Our cooperation with the Kuwait Ports Authority, represents an extension of the strong partnership between AD Ports Group and leading institutions in the State of Kuwait.”
He added: “This collaboration aligns with the vision of our wise leadership in the UAE, aimed towards sharing our expertise and best practices with our partners across the GCC.”
Al Shamisi explained that through this agreement, AD Ports Group would leverage its extensive experience to ensure the success of this project.”
